DNA Testing and Matches

DNA testing is a vital tool when searching for a lost loved one. Hopefully, the matches that come up will help guide us to the correct person. Please know that sometimes , your "cM Matches" can be very low. Fore which makes your search difficult. At times, another DNA testing company may help.

Have you completed a DNA test?
Which DNA test did you complete? Mark all that apply.

As mentioned before, DNA tests are a vital tool, when researching potential family members. We prefer Ancestry DNA as they are the most widely used and therefore typically provides the most matches. If you've already completed a test with Ancestry DNA, another test with My Heritage or 23 & Me may be required. (Unfortunately, as of Aug 2025, My Heritage stopped allowing Ancestry DNA members from uploading their DNA for free.)

If needed, do you agree to completing another DNA test? (You will be responsible for the cost)

When you take a DNA test, you will receive a list of matches that show a "cM" next to a number. In the simplest terms, cM or centimorgan is a unit of measurement to estimate how closely related you are to a person. Higher the "cM" the closer in relation you are.
